I’m a strong believer in wear whatever you want, do your hair and make up however you want, and make sure you prioritise feeling handsome over whatever the trends are, or however odd or silly it looks. That being said, a lot of men follow fads and trends that are sold promising to make them ‘much hotter to girls’ while women secretly laugh at them behind their backs. Here are, in order, the current trends my lady friends find the least appealing and have put them off dating a man or matching with him on a dating app: so avoid them, should you so wish.

You look older and more bald than you are

1. Getting a thick beard when your hair is clearly thinning.

This only draws attention to how fine the hair on your head is, and how little there is. You could probably get away with us thinking you just liked to have very short hair if you didn’t have a bush growing out of your face. You look unkempt, potentially freaky, much older (Wisconsin Grandpa vibes) and like you are going to claim to have fought Bigfoot once in a bar. More huh-huh than hipster. If looking like an inverted triangle is your game, you have my blessing, but none of us like it.
