I suppose it must be weird when the assumption is that women thinks for a solely sexual reaction: no, I don't want dominance over Claire and her nice mate Sue at the bakery. It's just nice to see people being happy. Being themselves. Being interesting. It's nice to feel safe and secure and wanted in the world. I don't get out of bed and go 'what can I wear to make John like me' or 'what can I do to prove I'm prettier than Claire to John'. Women aren't as oversexed as many men are, I think.
