If black people didn’t experience any racism, they wouldn’t act like they expected racism. If women didn’t experience sexism and violence, they wouldn’t act like they expected sexism and violence. I’ve tried “expecting the best” of men and I’ve been relentlessly disappointed and let down: everything from molesting me to threatening me.
