It’s possible, from personal experience. I was super in love with my first boyfriend and very into him for years. Gradually, I just fell out of love. It just faded and faded until I saw him as a friend. I like him as a person but more in a brother sister way. But yeah: usually one person in that dynamic has residual attraction, which is sad.
