Oh dear, that does sound hard. I think the best thing to do is sit down and say, look, am I hurting you by staying in touch when you see me romantically? Am I giving you false hope? Make clear you want him to be happy and find someone. That way he can see how keen you are not to hurt him, while hearing it won’t go anywhere. There’s no easy way to deal with heartbreak, sadly.
