The shockingly bad advice dating coaches are giving men

So if you’re even slightly online, you’ve probably seen a viral video where a man encourages men to go up to pretty women at a bar, grab their hand, ‘twirl them around’, grab their waists, and open with: “I didn’t realise you were this sexy!” Unsurprisingly, women expressed fairly strongly that this might not work. Or get you thrown out. Or beaten up. Or arrested.

I am not darlings, as you may expect, wholly convinced that pick up dating coaches are anything other than monetised rage bait or aspirational fantasy, most of the time. They aren’t serious. They don’t really think you’ll “get the girl” if you buy their £7000 gold platinum plus course on what lines to memorise. You’re just a consumer of hope or a nice daydream: no different from any of the female influencers I watch giving advice on wild fashion I’d never wear, cakes I’ll never make, or holidays I could never afford.

But the dangerous bit is that some men are stupid. And desperate. Some men really believe that there is a secret…
