So one of my friends was heartbroken recently when her man told her that he didn’t see it working, and then proceeded to start dating another woman two days later. I’m not just bashing men here, because if I’m brutal, I’ve seen my male friends getting jilted suddenly for someone new, too. Anyway: often these sad losers, male and female, end up coming back when they realise what they had. And I’m here to be the bad guy and explain why you absolutely don’t want them back.

1. You will never trust them again

I know you’re going to lie to yourself, and me, now, and say that you absolutely are going to trust Gary as much as you did before he decided to leave you. That it’ll just take time, that he just a mistake. He didn’t realise what he had! But you won’t: that scar is deep, those months alone hurt you, and you’re always going to be on edge when Gary spends a bit too long talking to Vanessa at the party or lies to you about where he was last weekend. It will never not be possible in your head, now he’s shown you how he’s prepared to treat you, that he might discard you suddenly again. Even if he never does leave you again: it will cause tension and stress you just don’t need. He broke this, not you.
